Coming Soon #55: Fearless

"No Fear No Man" by Anthony Que [ReggaeLand Productions]

First up this week, we have something which was somewhat expected, but has now been entirely changed following an earlier piece from this year. ReggaeLand Productions from out of Spain continues a masterful 2012 which has, earlier in the year, seen them push albums from the likes of Chantelle Ernandez, Malijah and Singer Jah with a brand new set from the suddenly VERY interesting veteran vocalist, Anthony Que. Not too long ago the singer delivered what has to be considered one of the year's absolute finest projects, "Meditation Time", which was not only outstanding in almost every way, but also a signal that maybe he had become something and someone as a singer that I had not previously thought he could be. All of that now makes his project from ReggaeLand, "No Fear No Man", a very interesting set to see if he can maintain that level of quality. If the clips are indication (and they are), it's all looking good so far. The album features previous works between Que and the label, including 'Change The World', which I believe is its first single, released back in April. 2012 is shaping up to be a damn memorable one for Anthony Que who is poised to launch, potentially, his second GREAT album of the year - I have a very good feeling about this one.

"Pa Moli" by Little Guerrier [Atipa Records]

The WICKED Surinamese born Little Guerrier had a very good year of his own in 2011 and he's also intent on ensuring that 2012 goes by just as strong by already bringing forth the followup to his very well received set from last year, "I & I" - "Pa Moli". Guerrier is someone who I've grown to appreciate a great deal over the last year or so and that's largely due to his energy. He always seems to have such a powerful passion for his material and based on the bits of the new album that I've heard, it appears to be even more passionate than its predecessor (the title track to this album is potentially something FLAMING!) with a great deal of dynamic Roots and Dancehall blended in. Well looking forward to hearing the full album and we won't have to wait long. Join us and pick up "Pa Moli" by Little Guerrier.

"Dancehall Hobby" by Mr. Williamz [Jahtari Records]

While we continue to wait (…and wait and wait…and wait) for UK sensation, Mr. Williamz, to bring up a full album for the masses, he has been steadily recording, thankfully, and in doing so he's linked with Jahtari Records from out of Germany for the releasing of a brand new project, an EP by the name of "Dancehall Hobby". This one is old school Dancehall music from its cover to its core, which very much suits Williamz and his old school tinted vibes and style. The EP features five tracks, which are comprised of two songs, 'Sit Down Steady' and the title track, as well as the somewhat funny 'Where The Man Come From' which finds Mr. Williamz addressing a few different things, including his rather unusual look. If you haven't heard him very much before, the DJ may just be near the top of actual SKILL in Dancehall (in a very 1980-ish type of way, of course) and while he hasn't gone as far as we may've hoped by this time, anytime Mr. Williamz brings something, it is worth checking, if for no other reason than because it is him.

"Black Star Liner In Dub" by Fred Locks [VP Records]

Next is something I don't actually know a great deal about (although I'm sure we had a press release for this album), but I'm sure will have Dub heads riveted. It's a dubbed out version of the legendary "Black Star Liner" album from the equally legendary Fred Locks (new album, "Music Is My Calling", in stores now). I was certain that this album had been released at some point already (and it may have been), but here's your chance to pick it up now in 2012 as a classic album gets a well deserved rebirth.

"Mentally Free" by Vybz Kartel [Adidjaheim Records]

The indestructibly controversial Vybz Kartel continues to make headlines despite his current situation. Next on the list is an EP release on Adidjaheim, which is basically a compiling of some of his most well known pieces from the last couple of months or so, "Mentally Free". Of course, I'm not the biggest fan of Kartel's and haven't been for years now, so while I don't rate most of the material which comprises this set, credit goes where it is supposed to go and where it goes in this case is to the head of the album as its first track, 'Dem Bwoy' is, rather easily, the finest piece of song I've heard of the DJ's in quite some time. Still, obviously what is most interesting about this one is its cover which places together the right side of Vybz Kartel's face with the left side of the face of the legendary Malcolm X

"Girl Boss: The Realest Girl" by Gaza Slim [Adidjaheim Records]

And of course, Adidjaheim Records are also releasing an EP for Gaza Slim (why not?), "Girl Boss: The Realest Girl". Although it is an EP, of course you know that you can expect approximately nine-thousand songs with Kartel. Again, I'm not the biggest fan of Slim's (although she generally SOUNDS, in terms of tone, pretty good to my ears), but I am, as usual, in the minority on that, so check it out for yourself.

"Time" by Bunny Rugs [Raw Edge Productions]

And lastly, like I told you last time, Bunny Rugs has a new album forthcoming (in a matter of hours now), "Time". So go and pick it up and I may just review this one.
