.....and before 2022 sends us on our way into 2023, the brilliant Cruzan firebreather, Reemah, continues her onslaught on the year via two of her finest releases yet in my opinion, including, arguably, her single best piece of work in quite some time.
'Warriors' [IzaYoung Boy Production]
"Tell you it a real honour
To spread di message of di people in a queen manner
Mount Zion run di ting, some of dem feel badda
SO WI BUN DEM WID A RED, A GOLD AND GREEN BANNER!"
Now you go ahead and take a few minutes to listen to 'Warriors' a few times. Go ahead, I can wait. You done? Okay now, let me tell you something: If you take the absolute CLASS of Reemah's two albums, "Check Your Words" and "Breaking News" -- I'm talking about songs like 'Wanderaz', 'Dominion & Control ["Under dominion and control"], 'DUE TIME', 'War', 'High Powaz', 'Crowns Upon Your Head' and 'May Day' -- 'Warriors' holds its own. It is GOLD. It is a gold bar of a tune coming courtesy of the US based IzaYoung Boy Productions. Reemah utilizes their beautiful composition to near perfection with a tune speaking about the importance of BEING PREPARED for anything that may come your way and being ready to stand up for positivity and righteousness at all times. 'Warriors' is brilliantly vibed in virtually every way and from the very first time you hear it, you know that you are dealing with something special. To my opinion, it is some of her best work. Period.
"Yeah, wi dash a fyah and ah chant dem down
Babylon a thief, wi no waan dem round"
'Just Rise' [Lion's Den + Bredrin Records]
The other piece coming from Reemah recently comes through Bredrin Records of France, the very interestingly set 'Just Rise'. This tune is featured on a digital release also including a couple of dubbed out versions and another mix which are all quite nice, actually. 'Just Rise', at least to my opinion, has somewhat of an unusual feel about it. I don't know if it's the pacing (which is a VERY straight forward one-drop) (well, that couldn't be it) or what, but something about it makes it stand out in just listening to it. Apart from that, the professor is at her typical work, adorning the track with her typical splendour. There is something really nice about the latter stages of 'Just Rise'. I REALLY like the energy it has during its final minute or so and with only being a touch above three minutes, that's a large chunk of everything. The actual wording here deals with us all beginning to dust ourselves off (biggup Peter Tosh) and beginning to live upright, upstanding lives as we were intended to.
"They never rate wi
MOTIVATE YOURSELF AND LOVE YOURSELF GREATLY"
