Beautiful Tunes #25

Yep! It's week 25, that's a lot of damn weeks if you ask me. So that's a lot of big tunes from my wonderful readers and this week we have THE most wonderful of them all and a couple of familiar faces as well. So, because I'm hungry and I'd like to eat, let's go!

Okay, you want to know who is my favourite reader (and by reader, I mean . . . Like sort of semi/sometimes person who kind of knows that I have a blog)? Of course it's my Wife and because I had recommendations from two guys this week, I begged and pleaded a suggestion out of her and in her frustration of being unable to get me the hell out of her face, she chimed in with what? Ini Kamoze and 'Here Comes The Hotstepper'. YES! If you have too much pride to admit that you love this song, then go and find something else to do!

Don't you remember the good old days from Midnite, when you didn't have to haul in "Vaughn Benjamin's Big Book of Extreme Smartness" to comprehend what was going on??? I do and apparently JP (yes I had to look it up AGAIN, to see that JP was from Washington DC) does also which probably explains why he reached back almost a decade for the "Seek Knowledge Before Vengeance" album and came out with the BIG BIG "a tune called" 'Late Night Ghetto'. Nice and clear and to the point of giving thanks to the Afrikan Woman. Benjamin near his best. Biggup yourself JP excellent draw my friend.

And last in is the return of Asher, who I think last dropped a selection in Week #19 (which I know through the most ridiculous of research). We found out that Asher is actually from Sweden and was born and grown in Ethiopia, so big up Asher. His tune this week? Okay, we have Navino and we have Diablo from Aidonia's JOP crew and we have a double video, for 'Look What Dem Start' and 'Drag Queen'. Of course, both tunes are aimed square at Kartel. The first tune is . . . Well it's a Hip-Hop song. The second is the better of the two (in my opinion), but all of that doesn't matter. What you care about here is the RIDICULOUSLY high level of wordplay present on the track and that's it. Not surprisingly, 'Donia has surrounded himself with very talented wordsmiths (or he just writes all of their lyrics) and this is a big testament to that. Even though it's kind of strange so biggup Asher and check the line of the song:

"Come an tell lie bout you ah kill people
Pu**yhole, dem nah know how fi dweet
When wi ah buss bwoy head uptown
Gyal pu**y Kartel ah teach you how fi eat!"

SCATHING!

I' had two songs in my head, but I think I'm going to save one for another time, so I'm going to the Dancehall circa 1998-2000. I'm going to an artist who I criticize every chance I get these days, because he has talent, but doesn't seem to interested in using it. It's Lexxus with the HOLY 'Divine Reasoning'.

{Reviews??? "Digital Acoustics" and something else. Stuff post on Wednesday, so who cares!}
