Counting Victories with Reemah!

Okay so, one thing before I get into the actual song here: This tune is produced by Catalyst Mitchell and it comes to us via one Feel Line Records. So what???  That backing has already produced two unforgettable albums in "Check Your Words" and "Breaking News"; so because of that I'm thinking.... I mean it's been four years since "Breaking News", maybe it's time for album #3???

In any case, one of Reggae music's most gifted lyricists, Cruzan TEACHER, Reemah, is back with a big new tune which may or may not be a signal of what is to come from the artist later this year, 'Victories' and it, most unsurprisingly, finds her doing what she does best.

"Pot no always ah bubble
And wi no eat so good everyday
FOOT AH ALWAYS FIND PUDDLE
Like di rain nah go away
Still, let me be patient
LET ME BE KIND
And we'll be fine
I've got to keep di focus
This one is a ghetto chorus
Di same struggles, same songs-
Made mi strong
Cause love is number one
Wi face rough times together

But we're going to count di victories!
Count di victories, yeah!
Wi were made to survive
We're made to fight
And they can't out that fire
They can't out the flame!
Can't out the flame

Some see you and think they know you
No si di struggle that lay before you
Cah you no own no gold spoon from you born
You just ah try fi mek ends meet
And you no really how yuh dweet, no
Cah nuff times money pack up and gone, yeah
BUT MOST HIGH NEVER LEFT YOU
MOST HIGH NEVER LEFT
You know you're blessed
Sometime you just want a rest yeah
You've got nuff things fi stress you

BUT YOU STILL AH COUNT DI VICTORIES
COUNT DI VICTORIES, YEAH!"

BOOM! Reemah once again dazzles lyrically on this tune whose core is about perseverance and maintaining oneself in tough times ["Plenty of trials, tasted defeat. Lost many a battle"], because they can very well be what makes us who we ultimately are (THEY DO! You are the sum of your successes and your failures). I also like the vibes around 'Victories'. It sounds very nice, it's very melodic and easy on the ears, along with being the typical genius from Reemah.

I'm going to go ahead and predict (with no 'inside information' whatsoever) that we're going to get a new album from Reemah sometime later this year. Until then, she continues to impress with wonderful efforts like 'Victories'. Check it out.
