Daniel Bless
Meet Daniel Bless! Last year, VP Records introduced the world to a talent, in the EXTREME sense, by the name of Jamelody. The singer, from a technical aspect, was absolutely BRILLIANT and although he may have lacked what hardcore Reggae heads were looking for, his debut album, Be Prepared was meant to put the world on notice of the developing artist who, if VP has their way, is well on his way to superstardom alongside names like Tarrus, Etana and Ifrica. However, Jamelody is also from Trinidad and would seem to be the head of the next group of artists now following in the footsteps of Queen Omega, Khari Kill and Marlon Asher but maybe that's not necessarily true. To my opinion definitely the most talented young artist from out of Trinidad has been St. Joseph native Daniel Bless. Himself, a work in progress (but aren't we all), Bless, to my ears, has shown a wonderful foundation and something to rely on and progress throughout his entire career. What he does lack, in my opinion, is the delivery but such a thing is generally overcome with simple time put in (see Lutan Fyah), but (just like yonger Fyah) he WELL makes up for that with what is becoming his calling card, downright SEAMLESS lyrics.
With the release of a few singles (like Know Yourself), Daniel Bless is well beginning to attract attentions within the Reggae music community outside of Trinidad (I think I heard one of his tunes playing in St Lucia also and quite a few places) and with said lyrical ability I definitely feel he has the potential to be a name to REALLY make a big impact in the future as Trinidad, especially, I feel needs kind of a next standout artist who can really 'survive' in the business because at any point you stop and REALLY listen to his songs, at any point, you're almost sure to get a lesson.
Currently, I'm WELL enjoying Bless' safe sex effort, Flex, on the Wattage riddim from out of Trinidad, on which the tune was amongst the standouts which included the CLASS of Trini artists, including the aforementioned Queen Omega and Khari Kill and also The Man From Moruga, Prophet Benjamin and I-Sasha. He also has other big tunes such as Guns In Abundance, one of his biggest hits to date, Know Yourself and the SCATHING Nyah drum backed number, Roots.
So definitely keep an eye out for Daniel Bless. An artist who, should he actually reach the level of potential I feel he has, may just be one of the best gifts that Trinidad has ever given Reggae fans.
