Free Stuff Vol. 8: Bizzarri Records Presents The Everywhere I Go Riddim

Yeah. Back again is the biggest and baddest label from out of Italy, Achis Reggae favourite, Bizzarri Records, providers of 2009's biggest moment, Lion D's "Burnin Melody". They seemingly have not the slightest care at all about money because everything they do, they seem to just kind of give away and this time is no exception as they now deliver the EXCELLENT bounce that is the Everywhere I Go Riddim. Still going through it as of yet, but highlights thus far include efforts from Ras Tewelde with the title track, Miss Triniti, Miss Linda and of course the Lion himself (and I do have to admit that I'm not AT ALL a fan of Dr. Ring Ding's (and I mean NOT AT ALL), but his tune, 'Rub A Dub Styler' is pretty good as well. But, don't take my word for it, have a listen for yourself and biggup Leo & Bizzarri everytime.

Free Stuff Vol. 7: Ziggy Marley

Yeah! Even more free stuff, this time from Ziggy Marley alongside Stephen Marley and the incomparable Angelique Kidjo. I couldn't actually get this one going, but Bredz did and I heard it on the phone and it sounds very good (now hopefully he'll send it along). The tune is 'Africa Land' and it's very very nice.

Free Stuff 6: KnowledgeBorn07

Yeah, more for the financially strapped community. This artist linked us maybe a week or two ago now and he had apparently just up and decided to give away his album for free! All you have to do is go to KnowledgeBorn's Website and you can download the entire thing for absolutely free and to my readers I should tell you, just in general, that there's a song with Ras Attitude, so perhaps that can give you an idea of at least what level he's shooting for here. So head over and enjoy yeah and you can also find this link over there>>>>> in my favourites yeah.

Anthony B - Sweet Jamaica (Free)

Anthony B says -

"The current situation in Jamaica has caused an enormous uproar within the entire country. In times like these, it is up to us as individuals to make conscientious decisions and stand up for not what is popular, but for what we know is right. This is affecting our country on a whole, and can greatly impact our future and our children's future. All aspects of the country's economy are at stake. And any action that disrupts the daily normal activities for Jamaicans or of life cannot be good. Being a part of the Rastafarian & Reggae community it has always been my belief that peace, love & unity are what uplift a nation. And as the old Jamaican saying goes, 'united we stand, divided we fall'. So we all need to work together to resolve this as soon as possible, and bring back the "irieness" to our sweet little Jamaica! Jah Love!"

And to observe the situation, he's released a song from Lazeme Music, 'Sweet Jamaica' which you can now check out for a limited time HERE.

Free Stuff 3: No Glory Riddim

Yow!

Okay so, I get offers from people everyday, literally EVERYDAY, to post links to mixtapes and stuff like that and I never do it and I'm not about to make a habit of it, but this isn't a mixtape and even if it were, I would probably still post it.

This is the No Glory Riddim from Bizzarri Records.
WHO? My readers of course know Bizzarri because it was they who masterminded my 2009 Album of The Year The Burnin' Melody by Lion D and now they're giving away free stuff. I don't know roughly half of the artists on this 14-track set, but most of the tunes are in English, and definitely the artists that I do know, including Lion D, Lutan Fyah and Khari Kill (biggup Askala Selassie sameway) are truly big deals and you already know this. Check it

And who knows, I may even slap a review on it - just because - sometime in the next couple of weeks yeah. So enjoy!

Free Stuff 2: Jalena

Have your attention don't?

Reigning Queen Clown of Soca (the reigning King, of course, is John Mahameed), the inimitable Jalena, from out of the BVI (biggup my Aunt Lalay) (and biggup Sistah Joyce) is giving away free stuff on her myspace blog. If you don't know Jalena, she's a seemingly delightful and oft-hilarious Soca/Poppish singer from out of Tortola who just kind of started popping up one day on Slaughter Arts riddims and since then has done quite well for herself with a steady stream of nice tunes. Tunes like 'In My System', 'Roll', 'Rusty Waist' and my own personal favourite the ridiculous 'Bumpa'. And she's a clown also (and I mean that in the nicest way possible), while on her myspace looking for free music, be sure to check out her pictures which include, amongst other things, Jalena whining on a woman about 3 times her size.

Anyway, apparently she was going to release an album and it's taking too damn long, so she's decided to just randomly give away most of her big tunes, including the solo version of the aforementioned 'Roll', which I didn't have before. And within the last year or so, I think she's REALLY developed, she had, in 'In My System', which was probably one of the best Groovy kind of Soca tunes I've heard this year (she had the remix version of the tune last year and just this year ran the solo version which is much better) (the remix wasn't bad either). So head over and introduce yourself to TRULY one of the most delightful (and a little strange) and hidden talents of Caribbean Music.

Free Stuff!

Just three free things I've noticed while hopping around online.

VP is always releasing samplers and I guess they've finally decided to make it available to pretty much everyone. The 8 track release is apparently exclusive to Amazon and only the US version and I did check the UK, German, French and Canadian versions of the site and was unable to see it available, although, that, of course, doesn't mean that it NEVER will be. I didn't try this one myself but I was on the phone while my cousin in law did and it worked for her, so there you go.

I don't know if this is a glitch or something but if you go on CDBABY, you can download Biggaton's album, Eyes Of Di Wise album, in full and completely free. The album was OKAY, if I remember correctly, the tune More Than A Blessing was my favourite and there's also a nice selection alongside Mutabaruka named What A Ting. Biggaton has kind of a Capleton vibe to him but he also isn't opposed to going DYCR style, straight poetry, at all. It was nothing special, but hell its free! I checked Biggaton's Myspace and his label's Myspace and neither mentions anything about it and the label's page even has a direct link to the CDBaby page.
**see comments**

And lastly, and most importantly. I've been waiting on this about a month and a half. Having recently gotten out of jail, apparently, Swiss based Gwada WICKED chanter Cali P has dropped two mixtapes and you can download them both (megaupload style) on his Myspace page. Of course I would have loved a next album but something like this might even build that anticipation for the next studio piece even more. Of course, they both contain usual mixtape craziness but, hell its Cali P!
